Day 31 Mosiah 15-17

In Mosiah 15, Abinadi talks about the Redemption of Man, Christ being both God and man, Christ being a sacrifice for sin, we all become HIS, even the Prophets.  There will be a first Resurrection, and those who follow Christ and believe in him will be raised up at that First Resurrection.  The wicked who die in their sin without repentance will not dwell with God.

Likening this Chapter unto myself

I know that in my life I have done all I can to put away past transgressions and repent the past 3 years.  I had my "Alma the Younger" experience.  I know that every single night before I put my head on my pillow, I have a personal interview with Heavenly Father.  I recall my faults, ask forgiveness, and hope for improvement in word and deed tomorrow.  My faith has made me whole, and I will see my God again!  I know this!  It is a promise from Christ Jesus.

In Mosiah Chapter 16, Abinadi talks about Christ judgement and how the righteous will be with God, but the wicked who refused to believe and repent will be subject to the devil.  This verse really spoke to me in

Mosiah 16:9 "He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.

Jesus came and lived, died, and Resurrected.  He was a sinless sacrifice for man.  This knowledge brings me so much joy.  I also know that every person who has ever walked this earth will have an opportunity, if not in this life the next, to be taught about Jesus and accept or reject him.  This is a beautiful truth and the reason for Temple Work; to redeem the dead and have ordinances done for them that they did not have an opportunity to do for themselves here in this life.

The Mission of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to redeem the dead and bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.  This was an explanation from AI overview:

"The mission to "redeem the dead" involves performing sacred ordinances in their behalf so they can have the opportunity to accept the gospel in the afterlife. This work is done vicariously through live members who perform ordinances like baptism and temple sealings for those who have died without the opportunity to receive them. This is seen as a vital part of God's plan, allowing for the salvation of all humanity by extending the reach of Jesus Christ's atonement."

In Mosiah 17, King Noah had Abinadi put to death.  Alma who was a Nephite heard Abinadi and believed his words.  The king sought to kill Alma but he hid and while he was in hiding, he wrote down the things Abinadi had said.

When King Noah called for Abinadi to be burned alive, Abinadi said that the same that would happen to him will happen to the wicked of King Noah.  This verse explains what happened to Abinadi:

"...he fell, having suffered death by fire; yea, having been put to death because he would not deny the commandments of God, having sealed the truth of his words by his death."

Likening these chapters unto me

I know that I am not at this present time being asked to deny my faith or die, and it is probably something that most of us will never encounter in this life.  I have read these chapters and have these thoughts:

#1 Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World.

#2 Abinadi told King Noah the truth and suffered for it.  I need to always be willing to testify of my belief in Jesus Christ and stand for truth and righteousness.  I knlw The Book of Mormon is true, the Gospel is true, and I will always choose The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints over everything else!

#3 Because I know the truth, I have a responsibility to testify of it and live my life in such a way that I will always be ready to defend it.  I want to be cleansed and always strive to be worthy of the blessings I receive from Heavenly Father.

#4 I heard in "Come Follow Up" tonight that our mistakes can bring learning and understanding of God's power".  I have seen this in my life, and I felt like these chapters solidified why it's important to learn of these truths, because "Through Christ all things are possible".
