This is the God we Worship. This is why The Book of Mormon matters. This is why Prophets teach, serve, and have died for these truths.
Mosiah 21 was a retelling of Limhi meeting Ammon, Ammon telling him Mosiah could translate the plates his men found with swords in the land with dry bones when they got lost looking for Zarahemla, and about their belief in Ammon's words.
One thing I want to point out about the chapters are that there are flashback chapters. Don't get confused. It's not just in your head. Read slow, make an outline of people, places, dates, etc if it helps. I'm praying for my readers of this blog that you continue to learn and feel the Holy Spirit as you read The Book of Mormon.
The people of Limhi wanted Ammon to baptized them, but he didn't feel worthy yet. They didn't set up their churches, so they waited and stayed faithful.
Likening Chapter 21 unto me
I am going through a time of waiting, patience, and faith in my life right now and am staying utterly faithful. I am not sure of many things, but what I am sure of is that God is Faithful. I have such love for Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and The Sweet Holy Spirit!
"God makes good to those who love Him" and "He makes a way for us, sometimes when there seems to be no way."
Mosiah Chapter 22 talks about Ammon and Gideon helping Limhi and his people escape the Lamanites in the wilderness by night as the guards got drunk. When the guards and the Lamanite King discovered the people fled in the night they searched for 2 days, but could not find them. They had gotten away!
In Chapter 23 of Mosiah, the Lord warned Alma that King Noah's armies were coming for them, so Alma had everyone pack up and move deeper in to the Wilderness. They traveled 8 days and came to a beautiful land with pure water. The people wanted Alma to be King, but he agreed to be their high priest. He explained that they had been oppressed by King Noah and now were free. He expressed his desire for them to stay free from a King. He said the the Lord wanted this for them. The verse that explains this is
Mosiah 23:7-8,
7 But he said unto them: Behold, it is not expedient that we should have a king; for thus saith the Lord: Ye shall not esteem one flesh above another, or one man shall not think himself above another; therefore I say unto you it is not expedient that ye should have a king.
8 Nevertheless, if it were possible that ye could always have just men to be your kings it would be well for you to have a king.
Likening these Chapters unto me
#1 Sometimes what I want and when I want is different from what God wills for me, and I must stay true, faithful, and wait upon the Lord.
#2 I need to always listen to the Holy Spirit which testifies of Truth and helps keep me safe emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally, morally, and in every way.
#3 I must love others, be slow to anger, watch over those who Heavenly Father wants me to minister to, love, care about, and positively influence for good.
#4 I want my heart to be clean and always worthy and ready to hear the desires of the Lord for me in my life.
