Day 41 Alma 11-12

Today I am reading Alma chapter 11 and 12

Most of Chapter 11 describes monetary definitions and how the lawyers became wicked in Ammonihah because they wanted more money.  They would create fighting among people so that they had cases to work, because angry people came to them and the lawyers then would charge them.  Sounds sooo much like today, does it not?

What I thought about was how much work Alma and Amulek had to do to teach these people and explain repentance, right living, and goodness.  Again, sounds like what our leaders and teachers spend time doing in 2025.

A man named Zeezrom asked Amulek a ton of questions to try and trip him up and Amulek saw right through him and called him on it.  He took time answering the questions, but also chastised the man for his wicked heart and intentions.

Amulek took the opportunity to present to Zeezrom the character of The Godhead, Christ's Atonement for our sins, repentance, explaining that dying in sin results in no salvation which is why it is so important to know about Christ's Sacrifice for us.  Without Him, we can not be saved because we would die in our sin without a Savior.  The Youtube video above is by BYU Vocal Point.  It is the song, "In Christ Alone" and is a beautiful explanation in song of what Christ did for you and me.  Amulek continued to teach Zeezrom and the people many truths.  Alma 11:42-45 is powerful.  Please re-read it slowly and take it in.

Likening Chapter 11 to Myself

When I read Chapter 11, I felt such thankfulness for Jesus Christ and Our Heavenly Father.  I am thankful to know that in this world that sometimes feels overbearing, we are not alone, God has a plan for our life, it is eternal, and perfect.  He atoned for our sins and made a way for us to return to God.  We can never ever do enough to repay the Savior no matter what we try to do.  I am thankful eternally for Christ and His plan of Salvation and Happiness.  I know all of us will rise from the grave and there will be no more death after the resurrection.

In Alma Chapter 12, Alma talks to Zeezrom after Amulek chastised Zeezrom for lying.  Alma further expounded on repentance, explaining that those who die in unbelief and non repentance will suffer a spiritual death and those who believe and are faithful will obtain Salvation and Exultation.  He explained that those who are faithful will also receive the mysteries of God and understand them.

Likening These Chapters to Myself

As I reflect on these chapters, what comes to mind is that

#1 I am weak, but with Christ I am strong!

#2 Daily repentance and goodness will bless me as I strive to draw closer to my Heavenly Father.  I can have confidence that accepting Christ's Atonement will allow me to see Him again.

#3 Wickedness never was happiness.

#4 In this world there are people who don't want to see others succeed, are jealous, spend time plotting and planning how to keep them sad or alone, isolate them from others by untruths told about them, etc.  They may succeed.  They may cause earthly chaos, or even harm, but they can not steal a soul, keep others from God, and they will not escape the wrath of God at the last day.  Noone can.

#5 The last shall be first and the first shall be last in the Kingdom of God.  Truth always comes out and light illuminates darkness.  God will bless the meek, bless the humble, broken hearted, contrite of spirit (Beatitudes), and is preparing a mansion in Heaven for them!
