Day 7 1Nephi 18-19

Sometimes God is the only one that can soften someone's heart, especially in a family.  What I felt in my heart when I read chapter 18 was that sometimes the only one that can reach down and pull someone's anger and hate from them is the Lord.  I get to pray for that.  I have seen this in my life many times, but I have faith that in our rebellion, unkindness, pride, and inability to forgive one another, God can make a way, heal the broken hearted, calm the storms of life, release the chains of sin, and make us whole.
In Chapter 19, I am reminded that my "plates" are my journals.  I write the genealogy of my parents, my feelings, thoughts, promptings, and the activities of my day that some day when I am dead and buried, my journals will be a written account of my faith in God for future generations to read about.  Nephi prophesied that 600 years from the time that his family left Jerusalem that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the old Testament would come to the earth and be mocked, beaten, and killed.  He saw our Lord teach, suffer, and die for the sins of the world. They would crucify the "God of Israel".   Read 1 Nephi 19:10-13
