This man, Sherem, sought out Jacob and approached him about his disbelief and called Jacob a blasphemer. He said that he, Sherem, believed in the scriptures but not Jacob's teachings. Jacob tells Sherem that he must not believe because all of rhe Prophets taught of Christ. Sherem wanted a sign if Jacob was teaching truth.
Sherem at his death told the people that he, Sherem, was wrong, and that he believed in Christ. Sherem then died. Jacob was happy that peace, for a time, came back to the people of Nephi.
The Nephites and Lamanites continued to fight and Jacob died.
Likening Scriptures unto me
Tonight was a tough night for me. Satan attempted every situation in order for me not to publish before midnight! I will explain later. I will publish and add to this after midnight. I wanted to post and I have 2 minutes.
Okay, I'm back. I have to get up at 630AM to get ready for church, which is in 6 hours, but I want to write what my heart feels about these Chapters.
#1 Being prayerful and repenting is good for my soul and should be a daily occurance.
#2 I can lead others to read The Book of Mormon, pray, and ask for the Spirit to be with people, but everyone has agency and their choices are between them and God. Just as the Nephites could not make the Lamanites hearts soft, neither can I. I can encourage and lead, but I can not force anyone to "Come Unto Christ".
#3 Being a peacemaker in my home is important to me. I need to keep my heart and spirit soft at all times. I will be rewarded, and if not in this life, then in the next. I have endured much.
#4 Obedience brings me blessings.
